Ideal Standard Limited announced as new Education Host

Ideal Standard Limited

IME are pleased to announce Ideal Standard International as a new host to the Educational Strand of the IME programme.

The brands Armitage Shanks and Ideal Standard have long been synonymous with quality British Bathrooms.

Armitage site roots can be traced back to 1850 when the first sanitaryware was manufactured.  The company that became Armitage Shanks was founded in 1817 by Thomas Bond in Armitage, Staffordshire.  In February 1999 Armitage Shanks became part of the Ideal     Standard group of companies, the largest producer of sanitaryware in the UK.

Based in Staffordshire, this visit is ideal for local schools and those further afield.  During the one and a half hour visit  students and teachers are given the opportunity to see first hand automation and production processes, in particular robot machines.   They will also have the opportunity to speak to members of staff first hand to discover what it's like to work in the industry and for a successful company who can adapt to technological change.  This visit is ideal for years 10, 11 and 12 due to its alignment with the current GCSE, AS, Diploma curriculum, particularly Engineering and Manufacturing.

For more detail on this visit click here or contact Carol Clemson at Staffordshire STEM Centre.
