Yamazaki Mazak UK Ltd set to share their strategy on Manufacturing Competitively in the UK

Following their successful visit in 2008 Yamazaki Machinery UK Ltd/Mazak are offering a closer look to delegates as part of the IME Best Practice visit programme. IME Banner at Mazak

Visit Date: Tuesday 21st April 2009

Address: Badgeworth Drive, Worcester, WR4 9NF

Cost: £25 per delegate & free to IME host company employees.

Yamazaki Mazak UK Limited is home to the European manufacturing plant and European group headquarters. Over 85% of the Worcester plant’s production is exported into continental Europe.  Around half of the machine tools sold by Mazak in Europe are manufactured in Worcester, the remainder coming from Mazak’s other 8 factories worldwide.

It can be argued that Mazak’s Worcester plant is perhaps the most complete and up to date machine tool manufacturing plant in Europe. It is not just an assembly plant but a complete machine tool manufacturing operation, machining components and casting beds, manufacturing spindles, tool turrets and magazines and most other key parts of the machine in-house. Painting and assembly is also performed on site, helping to enable the just-in-time and flexible output techniques necessary in today’s compeInside Manufacturing Enterprise for schools and employerstitive global marketplace.

Specialist Topic Area-Manufacturing Competitively in the UK through Continuous Investment-the Mazak Perspective

Following their successful visit in 2008, Yamazaki Machinery UK Ltd are once again offering a unique insight into how they use their own technology in conjunction with a highly skilled but flexible workforce to enable it to successfully compete in an extremely competitive but cyclical market. During the 1/2 day visit delegates will learn more about their strategy through presentations, a site tour and valuable question and answer sessions with key members of staff.

Previous delegates comments:

  • I think the value of the visit is in the day itself-which was excellently delivered,
  • good insight to the Mazak ethos,
  • the speakers view was of extreme value and gave warts and all,
  • extremely open and informative-well done.
